Young Voices 2019

17th January 2019
Frieth School Choir had an inspirational day singing alongside over 6000 other primary school children from across the UK at the Young Voices 2019 concert in the Birmingham World Resorts Arena. Having been working hard since last term with Mrs Cheung, Mr Green (our volunteer choir leaders) and Mrs Reid, the pupils sang their hearts out and danced their socks off throughout the concert.
With prime seats right by the stage, they enjoyed watching and joining in with some truly amazing artists, including Urban Strides, Beau Dermott, Sharlene Hector (lead singer of Basement Jaxx) and Tony Hadley!  I'm not sure who enjoyed singing along to the classics 'Gold' and 'True' more, the pupils or the teachers and parents!  The concert included songs old and new including music from; Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, the Kinks, David Bowie, Blondie, Katie Perry, Des'ree, Coldplay, and Michael Jackson; a selection of American Folk songs, a swing medley and a pop medley; and finishing with a fabulous medley from the Greatest Showman introduced via a recorded message by none other than the Greatest Showman himself, Hugh Jackman!
Tony Hadley also found time in the break to send a very special video message to Mrs Cheung, who unfortunately could not attend the concert she had worked so hard with the choir for, as she was ill. Thank you to Mrs Crowther and Mrs Gill Sandeman (governor) for stepping in at the last minute to ensure the trip to Birmingham was still able to go ahead.
