Walk to School Week

17th October 2016
We had a wonderful Walk to School Week this October! We had pupils walking through the countryside, in some cases for up to an hour, on their way to school. It was great to see so many families out and about, using their high visibility vests to make sure they were visible in the darker mornings. There has been a lot of research into exercise in the morning and pupils readiness to learn, and certainly many of the pupils coming to school this week told us they were full of energy from their walk and ready to learn as soon as they came in.
It also made a marked difference to the traffic in the village which was clearly lessened by the number of pupils walking. Wouldn't it be great if this could be the start of more families walking and a reduction of traffic congestion and vehicle fumes as a result!
