Visit from Rabbi Zvi Solomons

25th April 2018
Buzzards and Owls were visited by Rabbi Zvi Solomons this week which linked to our RE curriculum on 'What We Do at Weekends' and stories from special books.
Rabbi Zvi set up a table to show the children and talked about the special meal for Shabbat, including the Challah bread and the lighting of candles. Shabbat is the Sabbath time that begins a few minutesw before sunset on Friday and ends when three stars are in the sky on Saturday evening.
Rabbi Zvi also told the children lots of stories from the Torah and emphasized the links to the Old Testament of the Bible and Christianity.
The pupils had a lovely afternoon and we were delighted to welcome Rabbi Zvi to the school. We hope that he will be able to return again soon.
