PSHE and RSE

PSHE

From September 2020, the new PSHE curriculum is a statutory part of the Primary Curriculum. At Frieth we have been implementing the new curriculum since September 2019 ready to fully embed the new policies and schemes from September 2020.

Our policy for PSHE can be found in the section 'Admissions and Policies' and the long term plan can be seen below. This shows how topics are covered in each year group. We have based our curriculum on the PSHE Association scheme and planning to ensure full compliance.

The lead teacher for PSHE is Mrs Lorna Sparks who can be contacted at office@friethschool.co.uk
We are ever aware, in PSHE lessons as in our other practice, of our need to safeguard our children. Our sessions begin with the sharing of ground rules and a reminder to children that they can access help if they need it. See below for an example of these.
RELATIONSHIPS AND SEX EDUCATION

As part of our PSHE curriculum, we follow the PSHE Association guidance for Sex and Relationships education and have chosen to use the Christopher Winter Resources to support teaching and learning in this area.  Our Policies can be found in the 'Admissions and Policies' section of this website.
Whilst following the statutory guidance, the PSHE Association and the Christopher Winter resources for Sex Education and Relationships education, we are also very mindful of the Church of England Document 'Valuing All God’s Children - Guidance for Church of England schools on challenging homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying' a copy of which can be found in the link below.
