Owls Class 2020 2021
Welcome to Owls Class Page
Thank you so much for the wonderful gifts, cards and kind words from you and your children. We really appreciate your generosity. We hope you have all had a lovely Christmas! We are really excited to see everyone on the 5th January.
Happy New Year!
Miss Holt, Miss Birmingham and Mrs Bryan
Below is a sheet (Jolly Phonics actions) which demonstrates the actions that we use when we learn a new sound. We follow Letters and Sounds to teach Phonics, however the children have loved adding the actions (so we are burrowing a little bit from Jolly Phonics).
I hope it is useful.
Characteristics of Effective Learning
Normally, we would have a meeting to talk about some key information related to our routines. However, as we have been unable to I have attached a helpful PowerPoint.
Miss Holt :)
This is a general timetable and it can vary from week to week.
Curriculum Letter - Contains important info.
Just to answer some quick queries. We do not have a set time for our second PE (Physical Development) session. It will likely be on a Friday afternoon, however this may change depending on how we feel the children are coping. In addition our Fine Motor activities, e.g. letter formation, threading, cutting, etc., are also part of our Physical Development and happen as a taught session on a Tuesday.
Also we will not be starting Forest School at this point as another year group is currently taking part in Forest School. As soon as it is our turn we will let you know.
PE will be on Thursday :) Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school.
Today we will be sending home your children's reading packs. Inside the packs are their reading record book (or Monkey Book) for you to record in at home when you read with your child. There are two lilac books (these are picture books to support their story building and comprehension). The children should use the pictures to tell you the story. There is also two books from our reading corner for you to read with your child. Please send them back to school on Friday, so that the books can be aired out over the weekend and we can then change them with your children. :) We will be benchmarking (reading with) them over the next few weeks to identify which reading level they are on.
I will explain this in a little more detail over the next few weeks.
