Harvest Service 2018

15th October 2018

On Monday 15th October the pupils at Frieth school were joined by Rev Stephen Southgate, parents, grandparents and community members to celebrate the harvest with a Church service in St John the Evangelist Church. Each of the classes prepared a song or poem about Autumn or Harvest which they performed beautifully. Owls class sang a song about Autumn leaves and showed us their colourful leaves art work; Buzzards class recited a fantastic poem, including actions; Kestrels class, who had made the Harvest Loaf with governors and members of the Church in school the previous Friday, sang a song about making bread; Kites class sang, ‘What a Wonderful World’, and showed us their amazing collaborative Harvest poster; and Eagles class sang a song about Conkers. Our Eldest pupils led the service, including readings, hymns, songs and prayers; and the final blessing was given by Rev Stephen.

At Frieth school, the harvest is not just about being thankful, but is also about thinking of our wider communities and people in need. Therefore, as part of the Harvest Service, every child made a donation to the local ‘One Can Trust’ appeal and filled the altar with their fantastic gifts. Thank you to all the children and parents who showed such generosity.
