Sports Day 2019
28th June 2019
What a fantastic Sports Day! Following on from last year's change of format, the sports day this year again included a carousel of activities where the children worked across the age ranges in their house teams trying to gain as many points as possible for their teams. The children took part in the following activities:
- standing long jump
- hockey dribble
- beanbag throw
- hockey shot
- basketball shot
Once the carousel was completed, the pupils took part in the competitive races. The children had been practising and taking part in heats for these races in their athletics lessons with Coach Hughes in the build up to Sports Day. We also included the traditional toddler's race at the end while the scores were being tallied.
Once all the points had been collated, the prize giving took place with the winning team being:
We also awarded the prizes for the 'Above and Beyond' Sports person of the Year, the Alias Cup for Sporting Attainment, and the Cross Country Runner of the year. Well done to all our prize winners.
Thank you to Coach Hughes, Coach Goddard and their colleagues from Club Sport for organising the events. Thank you to the pupils who used their 'Penguins of Perseverance' to try as hard as possible in all events and participate so sportingly. Thank you to the parents who came along to support the pupils and gave such positive feedback after the event.
