Owls class 2017

Welcome to Owls class!
The class is taught by Miss Gibbens. The Teaching assistants are Mrs Bryan, Miss Armstrong, Miss Hearn, Miss Grundy and Mrs Barker.
This term's whole school topic is 'Masterchef'. For further information about the curriculum for this term, please see the curriculum letter attached below. Please note the new timetable for the Summer term attached below.
Owls had a great time learning a dance taught by the brilliant Perform instructors. This dance was based upon Alice Through the Looking Glass.
DT Day - Spring 2017
Owls explored the use of materials and how we can join them together to make their own hand puppets. They investigated how puppets are made, designed, sewed and decorated some fantastic creations. Well done Owls!
Pancake Day!
Owls class spent the afternoon learning about Shrove Tuesday, or Pancake Day. We learned that it is always the Tuesday before Lent begins. Other countries celebrate Pancake day also, but they might call it a different name or eat different foods. In Iceland they eat salted meat and peas!
The Owls children thought the idea of a pancake race was a good idea. We found out that this tradition started in Buckinghamshire in the 1400's when a woman thought she would be late to church so ran out of the house with pan and pancake in hand!
Have a look at some of the photos of us mixing pancake batter and watching the pancakes cook in the pan. They were very tasty, well done Owls!
Owls Class Assembly
Owls class put on a brilliant class assembly to share what they have been learning with parents, grandparents and their school peers. Have a look below at some videos! We sang the 'Days of the Week' song and 'I've Got the Power in Me'.
Owls chose 'I've Got the Power in Me' as our favourite worship song. The whole school has been discussing the 'learning pit' and have learned this song to remember we all have the power to learn and grow. We hope you like it.

Elf on the Shelf
The December, Father Christmas sent an elf to keep an eye on Owls class. We named him 'Cracker' and he got up to lots of fun and mischief while visiting our class. Take a look!
