September 2014 EYFS Induction Consultation

Wednesday 17th September 2014

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you to all the parents who returned their form to school. The results demonstrated that the majority of parents felt their child had settled into school happily, that the induction process and materials were detailed and clear and that any concerns they had raised were dealt with in a welcoming and efficient manner.  There was a fairly even split between the number of parents who wanted time to settle their child in class and those who did not.  The results are on the back of this letter and were based on 13 out of 20 parents responding by the deadline which is equivalent to 65% of the cohort.

With the results, your additional comments and our morning observations in mind, we will adapt the morning routine slightly from next week.

  • The majority of pupils will be encouraged to wait in the playground before school, either with the older children or on the green area. Mrs Bryan will be by the EYFS playground to help supervise them.

  • For the small number of pupils who still require additional support settling in the morning, you are welcome to bring them into class at 8:45, but will need to exit by the main classroom door and use the corridor exit by 8:55, before the rest of the Owls class enter the classroom. This can continue for the next 2 weeks until the 3rd October to encourage the transition process.

  • The goal of the transition process is that all pupils will be dropped off at the main gate starting after the October half term.

Thank you for helping us to evaluate our systems. Please continue to give feedback or to talk to a member of staff if you have any further concerns or questions about the arrangements.

Yours sincerely
